Blurb: Firestar’s three grandchildren have learned of the powerful prophecy that foretells their destinies, and the responsibility of deciding the Clans’ future weighs heavily on the three apprentices. But each secretly yearns for power: Lionpaw dreams of being undefeatable in battle, while Hollypaw longs to be a great leader and Jaypaw knows only he can see the true past and future for them all. Their strengths are tested when ThunderClan is suddenly attacked—and all four Clans are thrown into a battle unlike any the cats have ever seen.

Then a dark shadow falls across the forest, and a mysterious stranger warns the Clans of more trouble to come. For the first time, it appears that StarClan does not hold the answers the cats need.

All of a sudden, the warrior code is being tested. A crisis of faith threatens to tear the four Clans apart and destroy what the cats have built their lives upon. . . .

Review: While I did enjoy the book, it just seems like the Erins are grasping at straws. I mean, these cats are supposed to have answers and they do but they are the vaguest answers I’ve ever read about or they’ll answer a question with a question or just give up all together.

The Erins have also really changed the leaders Blackstar and Onestar. I mean, I can understand Onestar wanting to be independent from ThunderClan but the way he’s going about it is a complete 180 and just very abrupt. If they were going to make him like that, they should have just kept Mudclaw.

Heavystep is still being mentioned in the Allegiances, I think they completely forgot about killing him off in the last series. Notes, Erins, notes. I know I would keep a record of who I killed off.

I also kind of feel like the Erins were maybe floundering a bit with the three. I mean, the powers are pretty sub par at best and I guess they couldn’t come up with a power for Hollypaw and that’s how the new series came to be. Or maybe I’m just thinking about it too much and they had this all planned out.

Even though I had some problems with it, I still enjoyed the book when it wasn’t trying to work the prophecy into the mix. I can’t remember what all really happens next but I know that I’m looking forward to the next series.

On another note, I am very happy with the new cover. Very happy that they kept the eclipse, though I do wish that they had kept Jawpaw.

The writing is engaging and the plot has a steady pace to it, allowing the story to flow.

Thank you for reading my review.
