Blurb: Nice girls don’t believe in monsters. They’re wrong.

Amateur photographer Beth Ryder is in trouble. She’s taking pictures of things she can’t see, things that aren’t human. Beth has her own dreams, but people like her don’t get to go free. She’s seized by a dangerous organization dedicated to keeping Earth’s shadow world — and its frightening inhabitants — a secret. Forced into otherworldly politics and uncertain whom to trust, Beth must come to terms with a radically altered future — one in which her own humanity seems to be draining away.

Review: I don’t even know what happened here. I don’t know if it’s because I read The Choosing before this or because it was just that bad. The Choosing was so amazing, maybe I should have waited to read this before I did but, it’s done now and I have a feeling that my opinion won’t change if I read this again.

It was so boring. It was mostly dialogue and descriptions and when there was action, it was very short lived and there was hardly any of it.

The writing also turned me off and confused me. When it switched to another’s POV, it was clear, that much I liked but that’s it. When I say it switched over, it didn’t completely switch. It was another POV but still in the main protagonists POV. If you’re confused, join the club. Why write from another POV if you’re just going to stick to the originals? When it goes to a different POV, one whom the protagonist has no idea is watching her, let alone knows even exists, why is it still in her POV? Example: Instead of being “he recognized her” it’s “he recognized me.” It’s just very confusing.

Another little thing that threw me off was one of the chapters. It was Chapter 13 and it was a paragraph…Really? Going to use one chapter for a whole paragraph? It would have been just fine tacked onto the end of Chapter 12 or just thrown out altogether, I really didn’t feel that it needed to have it’s own chapter.

I really didn’t want to finish this book, I struggled through it but, I wanted to see what the ending was and see if it had any other good parts.

I should have questions but, I finished this last night and I just can’t seem to recall anything important that I wanted answered. It really doesn’t need to be as long as it is for just dialogue and descriptions. I felt like I was fighting through quicksand.

Thank you for reading my review.
